Today in Kansas City it’s snowing like I’ve never seen it snow before. It’s coming down hard and it’s coming down fast. They are calling for an inch and hour and 10-16 inches by the time it’s blown itself onward to Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Montreal and Maritime Canada. This is only our third snowfall of the winter, but they’ve each dropped a blanket of no less than six inches.
As I look out the window right now, the wind is gusting to 40 miles per hour, causing it to snow horizontally. Visibility is only about four backyards.
They’re calling this a blizzard. They’re calling this a 50-year storm. But I’ve compiled a list of a few other names for this historic February 1st mountain of white…
Since it’s falling most heavily across the state line, let’s call Missouri The Snowme State.
We’re also getting pounded in Eastern Kansas, so it’s only fitting that we call it The Blizzard of Oz.
Texting teenagers are calling it SnO-M-G.
Since the news has been warning about it for the past few days, some folks are calling this the Snowpocalypse.
A wave of snow this big can also be referred to as a Snownami.
My homies in the hood are calling it Snowtorious B-I-G.
Laura: Do you think we’ll have to go to work tomorrow?
Aaron: I don’t snow.
Laura: Seriously! What do you think?
Aaron: If it keeps coming down like this, it’s a definite sno.

Aaron, you are snow snow witty!!
Thanks Janet! I’m just glad you didn’t think I shoveled it on too thick.
You should be very happy that you found someone to marry you! 😉
I sure am, Sarah! Snuggling with Indie on these cold nights just doesn’t quite cut it. Keep warm and drink some hot chocolate.
This has been painful yet entertaining.
A big hello from MinneSNOWta! By the way, we have over 3 feet of snow on the ground here in western MN.
Ha! MinneSNOWta! Thankfully we’ve had a good melt here over the past few days. That’s the biggest winter difference I see between growing up in Canada/Iowa and now living in Kansas… here in Kansas, the snow melts before April!
