Me: Why do the Royals have Gorden batting leadoff?
Adam: (wryly) Because he’s a good hitter.
Me: Maybe by Royals standards. But he doesn’t strike me as a leadoff guy. He doesn’t seem fast enough.
Gordon watches another strike whiz by.
Adam: He’s got better than average speed. And he’s a contact hitter. He doesn’t strikeout…
Gordon takes an awkward swing and strikes out.
