The year was 2003. I was sharing the backseat of a Ford Explorer with my then girlfriend as her parents drove home from a day of post-Thanksgiving shopping in Amarillo, Texas. The first Christmas songs of the season chimed over the radio and in the spirit and joy of the day we sang along.
A duet by David Bowie and Bing Crosby came on.
Radio: Come they told me pa-rum-pum-pum-pum
Radio: A newborn king to see pa-rum-pum-pum-pum
Radio: Our finest gifts we bring pa-rum-pum-pum-pum
And then came the chorus. It was the first time I’d heard this version of the carol, yet along I sang anyway.
Me: He saw her, can it be?
With that, the car went silent for a moment, then my fellow passengers erupted in laughter. It took me a moment to realize my mistake.
It’s funny how a lyrical British accent can make Peace on Earth sound just like He Saw Her.

oh Aaron, does this mean we may expect you someday to post a picture of Round John Virgin or Olive the Other Reindeer?
Ha! Perhaps. I’ve always loved Olive, the tenth, and tastiest reindeer.
