Laura’s mom gave her a pair of trendy boots called Uggs for Christmas. With rubber soles and Australian wool uppers, this gift simple yet fashionable footwear brought a look of delight to Laura’s pretty face.
It brought a puzzled look to mine.
Maybe they do it to sound chic, or maybe it’s just what Australians/Chinese call wool, but I found it interesting and strange that they don’t call it wool, they call it “fur from lamb.”
When I teased Laura, telling her that wool is shaved off the animal but that fur is typically both the hair and skin of the animal (aka a dead animal), and that I couldn’t believe she’d wear dead little lambs on her feet, she rolled her blue eyes at me and simply retorted, Ugg.

As a hunter I thought you’d appreciate the lamb’s fur on your wife’s feet.
Ahh lamb hunting, those were the days… 😉
