We’re planning a summertime trip to Minnesota’s Boundary Waters for a week of canoeing, camping and fishing. As rookies we’re doing a lot of research, reading books and blogs, pouring over maps and talking with friends who’ve spent time up there. When my Dad and I last spoke, bears came up in the conversation.
Me: I was reading a story about a bear that stole a camper’s food, even though he’d hung his bear bag.
Dad: When I talked to my buddy at work who used to work as a guide up there, he said not to waste our time hanging a bear bag at night.
Me: What was his advice instead? Put all the food in Tim’s tent?
