Summertime

Last week was the official start of Autumn, and last weekend the weather followed suite. It got chilly. So as an especially hot summer draws to a close, I got to reminiscing about some of the things that I’ll miss about summertime:

  • Baseball games
  • Fishing
  • Thunderstorms
  • Not having to wear a jacket
  • The garden
  • Sitting on the patio at restaurants
  • Summer vacations
  • Full foliaged trees
  • Flowers
  • A cool shower where you can feel the sweat and grit washing off your body
  • Ice cream
  • A warm, dry breeze
  • Lemonade
  • Grilling
  • Not shivering when you get into a chilly bed at night
  • Lush, green grass
  • Long, bright days
  • Campfires

But all that said, I’m not one to get melancholy about the passage of time. It’s just the way it is.

So bring it on Jack Frost, we’ve got steaming apple cider and comfy sweaters to help roll out the welcome mat for October!

We made apple pie after the kids went to bed last night so the kids could experience cold apple pie with cheddar cheese for breakfast. Yessir, Fall has its advantages.

Yum. It’s been a long time. Like cold pizza, leftover fried fish and revenge, some things are best served cold – and as breakfast.
