Sleep Tight

I finally broke down and turned on the furnace.

Daytime temperatures are in the 50s, but on these clear, November nights temperatures have started to dip into the 20s.

When I came home from work the other day and the thermostat read 48, I knew it was time.

That all said, these are superb nights for sleeping. Not hot and still, like a summer sauna, and not so cold that Mr. Frost gets to painting on the wind-rattled window glass. But just right so that a flannel sheet, a comforter, and a sinewy setter curled next to me send me perfectly off to dream-land.

Snuggled in my bed I’m reminded of what Mom used to tell us when she tucked us in…

Sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite.

Good advice. And good sleeping!
