On a recent business trip to San Francisco, I had the pleasure of sharing a home-cooked dinner with my dear friends and their beautiful, young daughters. We ate our black bean and mango salsa burgers on plates atop vinyl placemats featuring Christmas cartoons. Santa for me. A snowman family for three-year-old Ellie.
While enjoying her second chocolate chip cookie for dessert, expressive Ellie bumped over her quarter-full cup of water. It spilled on her placemat. And on the snowmen.
Ellie: Uh oh!
Me: Did your water spill?
Ellie: (Giggling) No silly! The snowman melted.
