Forbidden Fruit

A local radio station asked listeners whose spouses have forced them to return an unapproved purchase to dial in and tell about it. A gentleman explained that he’d recently heard about a man who had waited in line at the Apple store to buy an iPad 2. Upon bringing his prize home to his unsuspecting wife, she balked at the cost and made him return it.

The next day at the Apple store, the clerk asked the man why he was bringing it back. His dismayed response was simply that his wife said no.

When the store’s manager read the comment “wife said no” he had a chuckle and passed the rational along to his manager, who had a chuckle and did the same to his manager, who just happened to be a VP at Apple headquarters.

A couple of days later a package arrived on the porch of the man with the frugal wife. When he opened the package it was a brand new, complementary, iPad 2. There was a note with it which read:

Wife said no. Apple says yes.

I remember when I heard this story, I about died laughing. I’m glad to see it’s still making the rounds, as I’d forgotten about it until now. Good catch, Aaron.

By the way, nice to see you’re still alive. :-p

Jared, you’ll be happy to know that not only am I alive, but I’m also an ardent Mac user. All that time I thought you were a little nuts… how wrong I was. 🙂 Janna, thanks for passing it along.
