Last Friday night, Laura and I shared a delightful sushi dinner with a couple of great friends. While the food is good and reasonably priced, there is one problem with our sushi restaurant… it’s incredibly loud. Between the music and the sea of humanity, it can be hard to hear the conversation taking place at the table you’re sitting at.
Waitress: (across the table to Laura) Can I get you another drink?
Laura: Pardon?
Waitress: Another drink?
Laura: Oh, no thanks, I still have plenty of water.
Waitress: Yes, but would you like another drink?
Laura: I’m sorry, what?
Me: (pointing to her empty glass) Would you like another drink?
She smiles at me and shakes her head to the waitress.
Me: (Leaning back over to Laura and doing my best Uncle Lewis) She wants you to say the BLESSING.
