We recently attended an open house to celebrate the life of Laura’s Grandma. The photo above was featured on a large poster near the front entrance of the hall.
A young man approached me that evening…
“Aaron, I walked in tonight and saw Grandma’s picture on that poster. Throughout the evening I talked with her children and some of her grandchildren and it struck me how much they all look like their mother and grandmother. There aren’t many certainties in life, but I can tell you one thing – Grandma had some dominant genes. Good luck passing down your family’s traits when you guys have kids!”
While I’ve thought the same thing, he said it better than I’ve ever thought it. In these mournful days, it’s comforting to know that Grandma (and her dominant genes) will live on, and on, and on.
