Laura loves to have her black Altima so nice and shiny that she’ll have it washed every couple of weeks. Me, on the other hand, I like my car clean but don’t really care if it’s not. A small part of me actually thinks that all of the grime and dirt that I pick up during the bird hunting season actually adds ruggedness and an extra layer of door-ding protection to my Escape, and thus I never take it to the carwash.
So the other morning as the garage door opened revealing driving sheets of precipitation to greet our respective drives to work, Laura lamented about how the rain was going to dirty her freshly washed car, while I celebrated the fact that nature was giving me a long overdue, free carwash.
I suppose cleanliness, like many things in life, is all a matter of perspective.
