There’s a health food store in town called Whole Foods. I’m not a big fan. Everything is super expensive. Everyone wears either yoga pants or Birkenstocks. And it smells funny – kind of fishy – like $12/lb. quinoa.
Me: I don’t like shopping here, Laura. It’s a little too pretentious for me.
Laura: I know. But everything is healthy and organic. Just look around. Everyone who shops here is so fit and lean.
Me: They’re not lean – they’re skinny. And they don’t get that way from what they eat.
Laura: What do you mean?
Me: They get that way from what they don’t eat. Everyone is so skinny because they’re starving. They shop here because they can’t afford the food and thus they don’t eat as much.
