Guy at Work: I like your blog. Good stories and cool pictures.
Me: Thanks. It’s fun to write.
Guy at Work: I don’t have anything worth writing about, myself.
What a strange thing to say. I have a list of no fewer than eighty three things that I want to write about. But the Guy at Work has a point, what I write about isn’t really anything in and of itself. It’s more about the story than the thing. It’s just thoughts and ideas. Funny things people say. Things I enjoy doing.
It’s just stories, just my life.
And that’s something worth writing about.

Everyone’s life is worth writing about. Everyone’s life is made up of a string of stories. Some of us are just better at identifying them.
I toyed with a bunch of different quotes at the top of my blog for years until I remembered Tom King’s repeated line from his CBC Massey Lectures. “The truth about stories is that’s all we are.”
Here’s to more nothing.
And here’s to turning nothing into something that people can smile about. Love that quote Dave.
Aaron,
You are truly a talented individual. Love the pics and when I get a chance I read some of the stories. P.S. Your dog is adorable
Pat, thanks for the kudos on the photos, stories, pup and talent in general. 🙂 Heat index of 120 in KC today… feels like Arizona but with humidity!
