For the first time ever on Picture This Life, I’m reusing a featured photograph. It’s something that I thought I’d never do, but the other day, I had such an interesting conversation regarding this shot, that I had to share it.
Earlier this week, I used this photo as part of a presentation I gave to our management team at work. I drew the parallels between training and developing a bird dog, and mentoring and managing a team. After the presentation, a woman approached me about the photograph.
Christa: I love that picture. Where was it taken?
Me: Thank you. It’s one of my favorites too. It was taken in Western Kansas.
Christa: Oh, very good. That bird is so beautiful. Is that where to go to fly your birds?
Me: Uh, yeah. That’s where we go to hunt pheasants.
Christa: How did you get it to stay like that for the photograph?
Me: I was holding it by it’s legs.
Christa: And it’s relaxed enough to just let you do that without trying to fly away?
Me: Um, you do know it’s dead right?
Christa: Dead!?! Poor thing. Did your dog scare it to death?
