Even with the occasional splash in the lake, a week in the woods will leave a person rather dirty. Layers of sweat, sunscreen, bug spray, mud, campfire smoke and fish slime take a long, soapy shower to fully wash away. Our first stop after leaving the Boundary Waters was at my parent’s house in Des Moines. My first stop upon entering the house was in the shower.
After the shower…
Me: Meghan, I have good news and I have bad news.
Meghan: Oh yeah?
Me: Yep. The good news – I’m clean and suitable for being the same room with you and Mom.
Meghan: And the bad news?
Me: You’re going to want to throw away your luffa.
